Knock-Out Bars/Daubers
|
|
|
These Knock-out bars will save the inside of your lathes' spindle from marring while removing collets, centers or sleeves. Don't use that scrap steel bar or the long screwdriver sitting on your bench.
NOW with a tapped end and matching tapped brass rings. Instead of the brass ring press fit on (shown), we now make these threaded. If you have more than one size lathe with different spindle ID's, no need to purchase several complete Knock-out bars. You can also purchase extra brass rings (one comes with each Knock-bar of the respective size ordered).
The knurled handled bar is 1/2" steel with a steel eye bolt threaded into one end for handling/storing.
- Knock-out Bar 1" - soft brass (non-marrng), working end is .990" in diameter for use in your spindles 1" inside dimension. The overall length of the bar is 17-1/2" long
- Knock-out Bar .75" - soft brass (non-marring), working end is .740" in diameter for use in your spindles 3/4" inside dimension. The overall length of the bar is 17-1/2" long.
- Knock-out Bar 1.375 - soft brass (non-marring), working end is 1.365" in diameter for use in your spindles 1-3/8" inside dimension. The overall length of the bar is 17-1/2" long.

This is that little dauber or quill oiler that almost every lathe is missing. Our latest reproductions for the 9/10", 13", 14-1/2" or 16" South Bend lathes. You can try to find an original on eBay (selling upwards of $75 at times), or just go ahead and get it right here to finish off your restoration or just because you can't stand that little hole on the tailstock being empty.
These are used to place a drop of lubricant onto the tip of a dead center to provide the necessary lubrication. The old timers used white lead and kept a small amount right there in the dauber's hold on the tailstock (not advisable for health reasons nowadays).
SBL used the same "oiler" part number for the 13", 14-1/2" and 16" lathes.
